Questions You Might Be Holding

Beginning therapy can bring up questions — that’s completely natural. Below are some common ones I’m asked, answered with care and clarity.

 FAQs

  • Our first session is a gentle starting point. It's a space for you to share what’s brought you here and for us to explore what support might feel most helpful moving forward. I’ll ask some reflective questions to better understand your story, and you'll also get a feel for whether working together feels like the right fit for you.

  • Yes. I offer sessions during business hours, evenings, and some weekends. If you don’t see a time that works for you on the booking calendar, feel free to reach out, I may be able to offer flexibility around your schedule.

Please note: cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid fees.

  • This really depends on your needs, goals, and preferences. Some people come for one or a handful of sessions, while others choose to engage in ongoing work over time.

    • Short-term counselling often lasts 4–12 sessions

    • Ongoing therapy offers deeper support for longer-standing patterns or experiences

    • Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, and we can review together as we go

You’re never locked in. The work is shaped with you, not for you.

  • Yes. Everything we speak about in session is confidential. The only exceptions to this are situations where there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, mandatory reporting of child protection concerns, or if records are legally subpoenaed.

I’ll always speak with you transparently if any of these limits arise.

  • Counsellors and psychotherapists are not currently eligible for Medicare rebates in Australia. Bulk billing is not available through my practice. If you require Medicare-funded therapy, you may wish to speak with your GP about a Mental Health Care Plan and referral to a psychologist or social worker.

  • A standard 50-minute private session is $130. If you’re with a private health fund, you may be eligible for a rebate depending on your level of cover.

I’m also an approved provider for:

    • NDIS (Improved Daily Living – Counselling)

    • Victim Services (NSW)

    • WorkCover NSW, VIC, SA

If you're accessing counselling through any of these supports, your sessions may be fully funded.

  • I understand that things come up. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours before your session with no fee.
    If you cancel within:

    • 24–48 hours: 50% of your session fee will apply

    • Less than 24 hours / no-show: Full session fee applies

This allows me to offer the space to others who may be waiting for support.

Still Have Questions?

It’s completely okay if you’re not sure yet, therapy is a deeply personal choice. If you have a question that wasn’t answered here, or if you’re wondering whether this might be the right fit for you, feel free to reach out.

Sometimes the first step is just a quiet conversation.
