FAQs
What can I expect in the first sessions?
The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and learn about what has brought you to the session. We explore your presenting concerns and learn about your history so I can understand what may support you moving forward. The first session also gives you the opportunity to see if I am the right fit for you.
Do you offer after hour sessions?
Yes, I do offer services outside of office hours and on weekends. If a day or time is not available on the ‘booking appointments’ calendar, please contact me directly as I may have flexibility to make accommodations for your preferred booking time. Please note cancellation require 24 hours notice without penalty.
How often and long do I need to attend?
This is individualised with no minimum or fixed number of sessions or timeframe. Short term counselling often ranges from 4-12 sessions. Longer term psychotherapy can help with more complex or longer standing issues. Most clients attend weekly or fortnight and will often drop down to monthly sessions when they feel they are ready.
Are my sessions confidential?
The information discussed in your counselling session is entirely confidential and will not be released to anyone except with your express permission. The only time a therapist may release information to authorities is if they feel your life or someone else’s life is in immediate danger; if they are mandated to report abuse of a child under 16yrs; or records fall under legal subpoena from a court of law.
Do you bulk bill?
I do not provide bulk billing. Medicare only covers the services of a Clinical or Registered Psychologist and Mental Health Social Worker. It does not cover counselling by a professional counsellor or psychotherapist. If your circumstances require you to claim a rebate from Medicare, you will need to first see your GP for eligibility check to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan and be referred to a Registered Psychologist.
How much does it cost?
Private counselling and psychotherapy appointments fees for 50-minute sessions are $120.00 . You may be eligible for health fund rebates as I am registered with HCF, Medibank, AHM, GMHBA, Doctors Health Fund, Bupa, Police Health and CUA. I am also an approved NDIS provider, Victims Scheme Counsellor and NSW WorkCover provider who can cover the counselling fees.
Do I get charged if I cancel, reschedule or no show?
You are able to reschedule or cancel your appointment 48 hours before your schedule time. You will be charged 50% of your session fee if you reschedule or cancel between 24 - 48 hours of your appointment time. You will be charged 100% of your session fee if you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment.
